WHAT??? The NS is "rebuilding a BB.."????
Besides, what does a "BB" have to do with the above photo?
He'll shoot his eye out with that BB!
Anyway, thanks for the great photo, Bobby.
Awesome photo! Lets get 611 up first, then 1218...so we can get a hooter on the right engine, and then......U guessed it...2156! U-rah !
What I haven't heard is if the facility they are building in Roanoke to store/maintain 611
Bob
Actually "they" aren't building anything yet, as "they" are still fund-raising.
The Fireup611 group has stated they are planning to build a 2 track building, similar to a N&W lubritorium. Long enough for the "A"...? Don't know. The 611 is just shy of 110 feet while the 1218 is just shy of 122 feet so what's 12 feet amongst friends...
I was at a meet just like that in the 80's I rode both the J and the 1218 and have 100's of photos of both. It was a exciting time. I will never forget it.

Just my opinion but, I don't think that "length" will be the issue. How did will the building be? If only 2-tracks wide, that will workout very nice for JUST maintaining/working on 611 with space for visitors to CAREFULLY look-on. Now, it it will be only 2-tracks wide AND is to ALSO house a 1218, THAT would be a whole different "working around" situation.
The Oregon Rail Heritage building is only 2-tracks wide, but there LOTS of room between each track, plus more/extra room on the west side for the machine tools, which allows for full visitor access, even when guys are working on ANY of the three steam locomotives. Thus width is MUCH MORE IMPORTANT!

They = UP. My error?
Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't the NKP 765, PM 1225, and SP 4449 get together in Michigan for Steam Days a few years back?
Still upset that a work obligation kept me from attending.......
