But it is pretty awesome to once again hear a Class A whistle. Wishing I could be down in WV to see the 765, but I guess it won't hurt to wait one more week to welcome her to PA...

EDIT: I'm told this is particular whistle is off of an N&W 2100 series Class Y engine.

This is not the first time 765 has had an N&W Hooter whistle mounted on her. The absolute, VERY FIRST TIME, was in the spring of 1980 during the freight operations on the TP&W RR, out of East Peoria, IL. Bill Honeycutt (now retired from the NS Mechanical Dept.) brought his dad's Hooter whistle to Peoria. Bill's dad was an Engineer on the N&W, and upon retirement, he must have requested a Hooter!

 

We had a great time on Washington Hill, blowing that great Hooter. I'm sure there are movies of those 1980 operations on the TP&W.
