Thank you!

Thanks for the link! I've never really thought of Hulcher outside of fixing derailments ( silly me). That was neat to see.
Wow!
Peter
You call 'em Hulcher. We called 'em..."The Sidewinders"!
Nice video but the music sucks!
I'd much rather hear what was actually going on.
That's a flat car load that I have not seen modeled. That depressed flat groaned when they lowered the 1309.
Thanks, Drydock. I would suggest to post links like this or embed the video: see Adding Links to your Post
Lifting a Steam Locomotive! WMSR C&O 1309 lifted at the B&O Museum
Pretty amazing.
There is something you just don't see every day, very cool. Thnx.
Of the current big rebuilds, 1309 just seems to hold my interest. Not much glamour; She's just going back to work. Even the rain seems somehow suitable.
Does anyone have a link to a video of the Western Maryland unloading the 1309 once it arrived? I have seen the emergency stop video but could not find any for unloading. The loading video was amazing!!!
Thanks

Somehow I don't think those counterweights were moving outwards nearly enough.
Very Nice! Thanks!
Pretty cool. My list of running steam engines to see is getting longer.... This may be melodramatic, but this seems to be a real time of renascence for steam.

That must be absolutely frightening to be standing beside that hundred ton or so engine why it's being lifted in the air.
While I was still an Army officer, I took a course in recovering damaged vehicles under fire. One of the things they taught was when using a cable boom for anything, you always stand twice the distance of the amount of cable payed out, in case it snaps. Under that kind of strain, it could cut a man in half. I would never stand that close to something like that.
A powerful boss undertaking and powerful boss music!!!
Thank you, Drydock.

Found the unloading of the locmotive itself:
Haven't seen any of the tender/front engine unload job yet.

RailRide,
Thanks for posting the unloading video. I am assuming the front drive wheels and pilot were in front of the engine so they could be moved under the engine and then lowered so al the wheels would be in place. I don't know how long those sidewinders can hold that weight. It is an amazing process.

Probably longer than you think. Those 4 D-8 Caterpillars weigh well over 70,000 LBs a piece, not including the counterweight.
Some of those Caterpillar sidebooms can lift over 200,000 lbs, x4 is 800,000lbs.
