1/43 cars at CVS Pharmacy

Good score Dale.  Rite Aid has them too, for $4.99 I believe, but just watch, some are larger, 1:32 I think.

Since I run standard gauge as well the larger cars work out good to put LED's in the head lights. $10 for the larger cars

1/40,1/32 or 1/43

 

The 1/40 were police cars and pickup trucks. Nice but slightly too big for my tastes as I run O.

Even better!   Hmmm.  Now where else can I put a car?  

I have a suggestion that I am going to adhere to from this point forward. A few weeks I made the decision regarding Semi Trucks to ALWAYS ask for dimensions before purchasing any model. I recently won an auction for a Corgi 1:50 scale automobile. When I received it this week I thought "what the heck"? It is very evident that this car is wider, longer, and taller than EVERY 1:43 vehicle that I own and is huge compared to the Franklin Mint 1:43 I just bought from BK here on the forum! I thought older Corgi was the one brand I could use as a reference but that surely is not going to work. I am going to carry one vehicle that "fits in" with what I have and am happy with . Then I have it with me any time I am looking for vehicles and can use it as a comparison.

 

This is just crazy to spend money based on a scale number that can vary over multiple scales. Watch for the Corgi to be up for sale soon. Grrrrrrr!

I figured it would look something like Elvis's pink caddy.

I just ran out to Kroger at lunch and they had a mixed section  but including a number of 1/43 for $5.99

 

Kroger also owns a number of other stores including, Fed Meyer, Ralphs, Fry's, QFC, Smiths, Dillons King Soopers and others, so you may find some there that are a nice option.

I picked up 3 vehicles at the local Rite Aid a year ago or so.  All are too big for on the O scale layout, but I like them on the shelf.  They are 1/40 57 Chevy Bel Air, 1/32 55 Chevy Pickup, and a 1/36 64 1/2 Ford Mustang.  I see they now have smaller vehicles possibley 1/43 to 1/50, but they are all of too modern cars to suit me.

My son is a manager for Rite Aid and they too have die cast car display in every store I've been in. But you need to watch the scale as it varies wildly! Also they go on sale often so keep a eye out for that!
