153 block signal issue

Anyone?

Does the 153 have screw base or bayonet base bulbs?

Rob has the answer.  I'll let him continue with the Socratic Method of trouble shooting.

These block signals have the screw type red and green bulbs.

Light green bases.

There is a resistor in line with the common of the two bulbs in the signal - the bulbs are 6 volt rated. If you jumper around the resistor and use 14 volt bulbs, the signal will respond the way you want.

Decades ago, when I used 022 switches, I found that connecting additional bulbs adversely affected the snap of the switches.

I currently have led's in place of the traditional bulbs in the turnout lantern and it's controller so I'd guess that I'm not taxing it too much with the addtion of the block signal's traditional bulbs

Graz, I agree with you re the LEDs.

Funny how despite the led's improvement in regard to power draw and heat, i just can't warm up to the appearance when compared to traditional bulbs

I prefer traditional bulbs too. Over the years, I've amassed a wide assortment of the types used on Lionel and American Flyer trains.

The LED bulbs from Town & Country are the best ones I've seen approximating incandescents.
