Hi All,
Does anyone have both a 17 and a 117 Lionel Caboose that they can photograph side by side? I'm looking for a visual reference on the difference between the two.

Differences:
Length:
17 — 11¼"
117 — 9¾"
Trucks:
17 — 10 Series (big wheels)
117 — 100 Series (small wheels)
Windows:
17 — Two arched top large per side plus two small cupola windows/side
117 — Two arched top small per side plus one long cupola window per side.
You should be able to spot the differences from 10' away.

Thanks Ron,
So far I haven't seen two at the same time to see the difference. I'm thinking of building a small freight set behind my soon to be restored 42 and a few 10 series cars would look great but the 117 caboose looks to be easier to find then a 17 caboose. Because of the size difference I'll hold out for a 17.

Perfect! Thanks this does help. I didn't realize the size difference was that great. Even with the measurements Ron provided it's hard to visualize the difference but this shows it.
