Just arrived today ......Lionel Strasburg Railroad Paradise Observation. It has been while since I ordered it, however it is sharp looking and a nice addition.

Good for you, looks nice! Some folks are already reporting assembly issues with it...I hope no widespread problems.
Apparently all are affected, the bathrooms face observation end, and the lounge is at the other end, not an easy fix either, with electrical connections to move and wires and switches that need to move.

Given I had just received this car I had not gotten to the point of looking inside yet as I was satisified with the exterior. I do see your point about the interior as I have received several other comments since my initial post. Thanks for pointing that out.
Not sure turning the seats around is that simple unless Lionel changed the design. Usually there is a hole for the overhead wires on one end plus the mounting posts are asymmetrical. They aren’t that hard to take apart so I expect we will be hearing about it shortly from one of the warranty voiders.
Pete
Being talked about over here for a bit.
Someone had posted on FB that they did manage to turn the interior around but had to bend the capacitor in some way to get everything to come back together properly.
If it's just "bending a capacitor", this doesn't sound like a daunting task. However, it's certainly something you shouldn't have to do on a car that cost a couple hundred dollars!
Hey John, do you think "bending a capacitor" will be necessary when 90 arrives?

It better not!

Yeah, I don't know the extent of what was done to pull it off as there were no pictures other than toilets in the back, then the correct way. There were no interior pictures shown. I would imagine that eventually someone will show us what is going on inside as far as above the toilet to figure out how to fix.
I believe they may have also mentioned adding or extending the wiring to make the connection work. I wish they would have posted interiors, as it would be good to see exactly what is going on.
It's a simple passenger car with lights, really how complicated can it be?
I don't know John, I'd manage to accidentally rip out everything by just looking without opening, lol.
I received both Paradise and Phila & Reading #10, and both have the interior flipped. Didn't noticed it at first but this topic made go back and look close at the photos I take of every new acquisition.
When first received them I heard some rattling noise coming from inside one of the cars. I feared maybe figures came undone. Turned out the thin white plastic packaging was cracking apart and pieces where falling free about inside the box. Anyone else get defective packaging?

I left the Springfield show last month having spoken with Dave at Lionel about #90, feeling optimistic that when it arrives, it will look and operate as it should. After seeing how these passenger cars have come out, I'm not so optimistic anymore.

Does make you wonder, there doesn't appear to be any QC over on the assembly line!

Yes I bought two of them and like yours one had broken white plastic. Not as bad as your picture but definately cracked in a number of places.

Yes, I am waiting for number Strasburg #90 as well. Has anyone received one yet? I received a UPS notice of a shipping label being created for a shipment from my train dealer where I ordered it and two days have past with no shipment yet which is kind of unusual.
Wow, even cheapening the plastic packaging.
That white stuff looks like the paper thin plastic they use for chocolates.

Interesting, we were told probably in the May timeframe, you sure this is the #90 they're shipping?
Yes.....Dave told me at Springfield it would be May/June.

Yes! at ths time it is the only open order I have. Received the cars last year. I called a couple of weeks ago and they told me February. I relaize this date has been tentative and keeps changing.
One of the other FB posts says, "I contacted Lionel and am sending it in for repairs, 6-8 week turn around time." Repairs is of course the interior the wrong way. So I guess everyone contact Lionel for the fix and such unless you want to do it yourself.
Can't wait to see what else is broken when you guys all get them back!

Maybe Lionel could make you the authorized interior flipper, like they made Harry the authorized J class repainter

I'll pass on that job! I'm sure it would pay at least half of minimum wage...

Mine broken too

Pretty much matching the contents, how quaint!

Were the cars damaged or did the packaging do its job?
I received some new heavy weight passenger cars several days ago and the packing was broken similar to yours, but not as bad. Unfortunately, the six wheel trucks did not survive the event. New replacement trucks from Lionel were received earlier today and the repairs are done. All is well in the world.
Hey guys....we don't need multiple topics about this "problem". This one is closed. Contact Lionel!!
