I was running my recently purchased '50 773 and though it runs well, it does seem a bit slower than some of the more modern Hudsons that I have. I purchased a new motor from Lionel some time ago but I was wondering if I could replace the 1950 armature with the revamped armature that Lionel came out with for the 18005 5340 and maybe before?? If I could, would that make sense or should I just leave well enough alone?
Any thoughts?

The factory gearing produced a slower (realistic) speed for these semi-scale Hudsons.

Probably would increase the torque if it will fit in your motor.

If it runs reliably with its original motor, perhaps you should not convert it.
It runs, but I thought the more modern armatures were a huge improvement on that motor.? I was just going to experiment for a bit.
