I'd suggest you contact Jeff "The Train Tender" Kane, in Bloomfield, NY (near Rochester); he has a huge inventory of Lionel parts including some for the 1-700E (#18005) 1991 Hudson. His e-mail is: TTender@rochester.rr.com & his web site is: www.ttender.com
If you give me your e-mail address I can scan the pages from the Modern Era Lionel Greenberg Repair Manual on the 1-700E to you, to more easily identify the parts you need.

Thanks for the Tips! Unfortunately, I do not have a Lionel Parts Manual for MPC but for Postwar. I will check around and see who has what. Thanx Al

The entire Modern Era Lionel service manual is post online at the Lionel web site.
I have rarely seen the entire six car "scale" rolling stock set offered together on Ebay. The reproductions of the original four car set show up individually quite often on Ebay. Prices very, but they can be had NOS for about the original street price or less. The two new cars are less common and typically command much higher prices. There is also a second scale caboose that is scarce and expensive.
Thanks Chuck!
I received the parts last Monday. Put everything together and went to run it and it had a bad bind in the mechanism. Found the piston rod was too long on one crosshead, not allowing the full rotation. I removed the piston rod and drilled out the hole in the crosshead for more depth. Works great now and runs like a sewing machine.
Not sure if this was a typical problem with these engines back in the day. Al
