Crazy prices being realized at Stout Auction. The Ford family is going to be very happy I predict after all is said and done!

I just took a look at the Stout Auction (in progress), so far the most expensive item I saw went for $10,000.
I agree that the prices are healthy. I guess people assume that if it came from this fellow's collection, it must be the best of the best.
I don't get the title of this thread.

Thanks, I don't know how I missed it.
Too rich for me by a factor of ten. But to each their own.
It is a scarce variation, and mint, something to keep in mind when wondering what the ones that many of us have in are basements might sell for.
Let the sour grapes begin.
Lot 2075 ... Trolley not subway $ 20,500 realized...
Definitely all about scarcity. Really nice items but wow what prices on some ...

The interesting part...
...you just paid what for that!
It's my impression that not verified means the successful bidder has not paid yet.
buying at auction goads one to pay more than he might as a pondering, let me think about that, purchaser..
I've been the 'goadee' before at Stout but glad not in this instance..
The 3 rail collector market still benefits from a number of serious [?] collectors, considering the huge growth of the TCA from the 70s on [ I was # 22?? back in 1968, only kept my membership a few years so I could attend York meets for O scale] the amount of large/quality collections coming to auction today is not surprising, it is probably the best way to move a collection. Just wait until March.... we're just warming up.
I was watching the 19334 set from 1964 from JC Penney with the unmarked olive drab military cars and set box which sold for $10000.00
