The Chessie they did in 2001 was the full size one. This one is miniature.

As for this year's full-size choice, BOOOOOOO  They already did the General and tender back in 2000, and the tacky repaint makes it worse. Worse than the holiday Mikado, which IMO was the low point of the series. C'mon Hallmark, go back to the Postwar models. Or at least get a little gutsy and make an articulated engine....

I kinda like it - at least it's colorful .  I have 3 of the sets but quit buying them the year they did the PRR steamer because I didn't think it would be noticeable when hanging on the tree.  I think I'll jump back in this year with this colorful offering.  Fanciful or not.

PC9850: don't take my Reply as some sort of attack on your statement.  It's not.  I have absolutely no problem when people have their own attitude about something and it's different than mine.

After some consideration, I decided I like the new ornament set, primarily due to the addition of the baggage car.

I have the complete Hallmark Lionel collection of my own and also have a LARGE inventory of ornaments I sell online and to fellow trainiacs. I don't have many of the minis; they just don't have the appeal the larger ones do. I will definitely be getting the Nutcracker Route trio.
