I'm excited to see what Lionel put in the Christmas Catalog. Last year's cat had a lot of nice offerings.
my lionel christmas catalog wish list includes:
a new christmas tank car

Betcha there's a Hallmark special set.
Charlie,
Thanks much I will definitely look it over, any new Christmas Tin Plate?
PCRR/Dave
No Tin Plate from Lionel in it.
I just got the Lionel™ Christmas™ catalog at my LHS. If you thought there was nothing left in the PE line to add, think again. Also the Christmas dockside switcher is back! It's part of a set but I am sure there will be some break ups or separate sale offered down the road. A very nice Angela Trotta Thomas boxcar is there. The sawmill turned into Santa's factory. A red arch under bridge. For rdeal, there are two tank cars. A two dome in white for Santa's rocket fuel and a single dome in green and red for cocoa. And as they say on TV™, much, much more.

It will help in a small way to take our minds off of what is going on here in Baltimore. Very Sad indeed. Thank You

Can you expand upon this?
Darn! My observation skills are slipping! I looked right past that in the booth (assuming it was there for the whole meet).
I probably saw the Justice League sign with 4 similarly hued boxcars and ignored the detail!

Is it the same deco, or maybe inverted colors? (Green with Red or White with Red/Green trim)?
I saw an original at York for around $95 and considered buying it, but I didn't.
Thanks.

On the docksider, the front is white, not grey. The lamp is red, not green.
New PE items are: letters to Santa mail car, work caboose with presents, an aquarium car, the house of the little boy, a Thomas Kinkade painting box car (also a whole Kinkade set), and a covered bridge that is really nice looking,.

So the PE items are all traditional-sized? Any scale-sized items? New add-ons to the PE scale passenger cars... like a StationSounds diner now that they're making an appearance in the line-up again???
How about any other scale stuff from the Polar Railroad or North Pole Central liveries?
Thanks for the previews thus far!!!
David
Thanks POTRZBE, look forward to seeing the catalog tomorrow.
All PE items are traditional size. FWIW, the Kinkade art boxcar has an $84.99 MSRP, so it'll feel scale!
Red Ice station with green base, two tone North Pole central ice car.

For those that have seen the catalog is there anything new for Peanuts? I saw posted above that there is "no 50th Anniversary peanuts Christmas special boxcar."
MORE PE!! The PE items were not all together in the catalog. My apologies. Add to the PE line: an N5B caboose in PE colors and a PE stock car in a tuscan reddish color and what looks like a black roof.
Nothing new in the Peanuts line.
There is a 50th Anniversary Peanuts ornament in the Hallmark catalog as well as a Lionel 3 piece setup

Hi Folks,
Lionel missed a big opportunity to re-issue the Snoopy and Woodstock handcar for the 50th anniversary. Or they could have done a Charlie Brown and Snoopy handcar. With every bit of advertising or media coverage about the 50th anniversary, any Peanuts' item from any manufacturer gets a boost, a free ride, so to speak. The general public loves that handcar, and it would have been a way for Lionel to get their foot in the doors of many new households, especially growing the hobby with women of a certain age.
Take care, Joe.
Imagine if there was a Peanuts Movie....and you had a Peanuts License......oh wait.

POTRZBE - thanks for the heads up - i have the visa in hand

Here is Lionel's RPO...
...which is painted and lettered much like mine and Brian's(painted by Jeff Sohn, years ago)...
Wait what?! They're planning for christmas already! I gotta start writing my list!!!
Photo of Docksider in LionChief Christmas Set.
Thanks for the pic!
Very similar to the original. I probably would have liked an inversion of the green/red to make it different(like they have done for some other items, like some of the candy cane tank cars), but maybe that wouldn't do as well as red with everyone else.
-Dave
I love Lionel 0-6-0s (own 5), especially the original North Pole Central version. I'll probably be in on the LionChief NPC Docksider then.
It's up now. Wow, this will be the most I've purchased from a single catalog in a while!
The PE work caboose, PE aquarium, PE Kinkade boxcar, PE N5B caboose, and PE reindeer car are all a GO.
i am impressed !
For sure on my list are the two tank cars, the Santa’s Reserve Cocoa Tank Car and Santa’s Sleigh Rocket Fuel Tank Car
Plus two other (maybe) items – Escaping Snowmen Handcar and I also like the Santa’s Helper Crane – but not sure how the Crane would look with my “all tank car” Christmas train

You are being too kind!
In the Lionel Christmas Catalog is:: Escaping Snowman HANDCAR
How well do the handcars work on layouts and if so, how is the best “set-up” to make it happen – work at best

I've got Santa and Mrs Claus. They zip along in one direction only. No bump n go, no reverse unit. Very entertaining due to the up and down motion of the arms.
