Wow. That would mean it would go from Washington to Baltimore. It will take some planning, because I believe the train left B-more on either the Northern Central or the P,W & B, both which are defunct and the tracks long gone. This would be interesting!
Please note this statement from their website:
Unfortunately, due to modern-day train traffic and the inefficiencies of an 1800s train replica, we are unable to make the entire trip on rail.

Yes, I noticed that too which leaves a lot to be desired as far as specifics in rail versus perhaps trailer transit along some of the route. It's still pretty far off as far as the run itself in 2015 so who knows? I tend to be an optimist. However, I cannot imagine that no rail transit would be involved meaning some is better than none I suppose. That being a given, the logistics of this are easily seen to be daunting but given the track record of the owner ( now working on building his second locomotive from scratch) of transiting his current loco to several museums to run it, if the railroads fail to take advantage of the publicity involved in giving him permission to run,( I think the trackside crowds would be substantial if pulled off ) I would think Ohio Central and \or alternatively, perhaps other museums like Steamtown, B&O Museum etc could make this a similar proposition so at least we can experience living history, rather than none I wish him all the best of luck. Time will tell.
Now that train would be a winner in O scale!
Now, to have it run on a Class One.......?
MTH already makes a model of The Leviathan in O Scale, as well as once made a copy of the Lincoln Funeral Car (that I just missed on Ebay a few months ago!). So you could probably make one if you scoured the various resources online. Maybe.
Aw, dang, I didn't see the part about not being able to make it everywhere. But I could see where having only one 4-4-0 do all the work would put a strain on the lil puffer belly. That fellow will simply have to build 2 more!
I, too, would love to see them do things at friendly venues, like the B&O Train Museum or other train museums. I might shoot the Train Museum an email to see if they're considering taking part if it gets off the ground.

Sorry, the MTH Leviatan is a joke. It's a modified NYC 999. Too big, too clumsy, too wrong. It has none of the grace of the prototype. Lionel offered a fairly accurate Lincoln Funeral Train in O Gauge.

getting back to the actual re-creation of the journey.
I'll be very interested which portions of the route will be by rail. I'd think the NEC portion would be easier to maintain a movement versus some single track sections as it allows traffic managers dispatching flexibility. Lincoln's train came right through town here on the PRR.
For what it's worth, I wouldn't expect to see the Leviathan in operation on ANY main line of a class 1 railroad.
