After some failed attempts at determining what year my 2037 is and what cars are supposed to come with it, I decided to make a post and see if anyone on here could help. I received the 2037 as my first train (sometime in the late 80s-early 90s) from my parents and it’s been around as long as I can remember. My father told me that the set was pieced together by a friend of his that collected trains. The tender had the postwar metal trucks but I swapped them out when I updated it to TMCC.

Well, the easiest way to tell is if the tender & loco make it through their life together as a matched pair, so with that info 1963 was the last year for the 2037 and the first year for the 234W, so that narrows it down to set 11395.

The problem comes in where you state the tender had metal trucks. That kind of makes it a Frankentender as the 234W always came with plastic AAR trucks. Otherwise, the 2037 came in 21 cataloged sets 1953-1963 and was sold separately, so who knows even if the 2037 box is original to your locomotive.
