2037 identification

Well, the easiest way to tell is if the tender & loco make it through their life together as a matched pair, so with that info 1963 was the last year for the 2037 and the first year for the 234W, so that narrows it down to set 11395.

The problem comes in where you state the tender had metal trucks. That kind of makes it a Frankentender as the 234W always came with plastic AAR trucks. Otherwise, the 2037 came in 21 cataloged sets 1953-1963 and was sold separately, so who knows even if the 2037 box is original to your locomotive.

I was wrong, they were plastic. Here is the whistle and trucks from the tender.

Well that just deepens the mystery - those trucks are the right design but the wheels & axles are from mid to late Fundimensions/LTI rolling stock, so we can't rely on that either.
