well thats good but I am also seeing that this run for April now September will be the last ones built do you know anything about that?

Isaac, Yes this was scheduled to be the last run of the remote even before it was announced that MTH was closing in 2021.  I ordered a 50-1038 a few months ago.

That is a huge shame, I am really not a fan of the app I guess I will have to get that backup remote in case. I just hope the company splitting off from MTH to handle DCS and protosound doesnt make the WiFi app madatory.

I tried the WIU and app.  I think it’s a good product, but didn’t work well for me.  I thought it would be easier for me with arthritis, but I am able to find the buttons on the remote by feel without looking at the remote.  I couldn’t do that with the phone.  It’s just me!  🤪

Ok Let me say some things in the order you posted above. As for repairing the TIU you currently have there are several people on here that do repairs, Gunrunnerjohn being one of them. You can get the current Version L TIU's now and some dealers have them in stock. Check with Mr Muffin, Nicolas Smith, Legacy Station, Patrick's and of the big dealers then go to the local Hobby shops and check. I know I just recommended Alloway Trains to someone from Hawaii and they sold him their last TIU. BUT they are out there. As for making the DCS Remote, MTH is making one more run and they have NOT arrived yet but are due in September. The WiFI app is different and I agree I prefer the Hand held Remote, but with that being said, there are good things about the WiFi app (upgraded to the $24.95). For one adding switches and routes are a breeze. We as humans do NOT LIKE CHANGE! Having said that I find that the more I use the app the easier it gets and the more fun it becomes and YES I STILL USE MY REMOTES (I have 4 and another on order). The modern (Version L) TIU I already discussed above. Your last comment is WRONG. "PS I am aware MTH is on course to closing down but I had no clue they were just gonna get rid of DCS in favor of an app if they didnt close that seems like a massive mistake" They are not getting rid of DCS. DCS is the operating system. They are discontinuing the REMOTE! DCS will Always be around it may or may not have a group of Former MTH Employees running a separate company to support it but regardless it will always be here. There are to many running it and it is, (DISCLAIMER: "IN MY OPINION"), far superior to anything else as it can, with the upgraded Wifi App, Run 99% of Lionel's Legacy features. NO OTHER APP OR SYSTEM CAN DO THAT! Yes you still have to buy the 990 Legacy system and a SER2 but you DO NOT need to use the LEGACY REMOTE!

One more note. ANY TIU, after Ver C (I think) can be upgraded thru the Serial port. Upgrading sounds threatening, But as Barry Brokowitz once told me at one of his seminars. "Get over it, it is easy". He was Correct. I had built up a fear that did not need to be there.

Sit back, Relax, Take some deep breaths and ENJOY your trains and the system you have. As you get more comfortable you can expand upon it and bring enjoyment into full Bloom. You have NOT made a mistake with DCS and there are PLENTY of people here that will ALWAYS help you. Yes, there will be die hard Lionel fans who will shoot it down just as die Hard MTH fans shoot down Lionel's systems. You have a great system, expand upon it, do NOT be afraid to try the Wifi App, and ALWAYS ENJOY THE TRAINS!

We are all simply HELPER ENGINES tagged into your consist if needed! Throttle Up to Notch 8 and get moving!

the day has finally come the first back table is being built. It will be 150 inches by 40 inches and most of the other tables will be built outwards from it. It will be 47 inches tall so I can do work under the tables and have a nice view. Not a fan of short train tables. Will post more today after the tables completion.

What a wonderful looking space, Isaac!  I'll look forward to seeing progress.

first table is complete, I am very very happy with the height and the build. Next table will 36 inches by 77 inches by the window. Looking good.

611 was the first engine to run on the new layout and she looked good while doing it.

NEW ARRIVALS today. Its a good day got some new train stuff in the mail. 

got a atlas double track truss bridge for a lift out section on the layout, its used and needs a tad bit of repairs but I am a very big fan of how it looks. Still need to get another single bridge but this is a pretty big need taken care of.

I also got an MTH Norfolk Southern AC6000. Always been a huge fan of AC6000s now I have a beautiful Norfolk Southern one.

also got these factory sealed never opened K-Line Pennsylvania F3 units

these are probably one of my most detailed diesels they are absolutely gorgeous. These are also my first Pennsylvania diesels, very excited to get some PRR passenger cars for them and the new PRR S1 by lionel.

Construction on the next 2 tables should begin by next week.

Those are all great looking!  It is too bad the bridge was damaged, but good it is repairable.  How long is that bridge?

Mark I was actually looking at a menards bridge but decided I wanted a large gap and I had the space for it so I went with the 40 inch atlas bridges. The menards bridge I looked at was very nice too I am a fan of their buildings.

The day has finally come for the next table, The next table will be 80 inches by 37 inches and have the control system under it.

Wood was bought and cut today, will be built tomorrow or tonight we will see.

some experimental planning has been going on in the layout with more sidings.

 I also added this area where the yard table and mainline table will be connected with a crawl space underneath to reach the open area at the start of the yard. 

very excited to build more and finish it up, goal is to have the wood work finished by end of October

Next will be the final back wall tables, then the yard tables, then the middle and then the outside tables

Its all coming together

3rd table was completed today plywood needs to be screwed down and cut. I plan to have a shelf under this table with the Legacy System and TIU with my Z4000 and 2 Powerhouse 180s for the power supply to the layout 

Good luck plugging them into that outlet behind the leg. Should have extended the layout 6 inches. Would have cleared the outlet and gave you more real estate. But love the progress and Thanks for posting. Very enjoyable following along.

I have a flat head extension cord that fits behind the leg no problem so no worries there

Isaac, It is looking mighty good!!  Yes Jack, a walkout basement is a good thing.  We do not like our split entry, go in the front door and you have to go up or down right away.  However, the walkout basement in the back is great!  My little layout is right by the exterior door.

I have also been following your progress Michael those backdrops you put up are fantastic and I was actually thinking about looking into something like that on my layout cause they are so good looking although they sure do look like a hassle to put up. Keep up the great work on your own layout!

Hey everyone I have finally returned to model trains, after loosing all my layout plans last year to computer issues and as I am sure all you know the price of wood has been crazy recently. So my layout plans and work on the layout in general have been entirely in standby phase for over a year now. With the price of wood going down I finally recreated my plans for the layout and I am happy to report layout work should restart after Christmas.

I went over the refined layout plans and ran some of the engines I acquired in my year off in a video on my Channel O scale Everyday if anyone is interested.

The recreated plans in scarm pretty close to the original plans.

I cannot wait to fully get back into trains and truly start making some progress on the layout, because the benchwork is just the beginning!

Progress has been at a complete stand still for over a year now with wood prices being so high. But after Christmas work will begin again. So far the entire back tables and the L table to the peninsula have been built. Next is the yard table which will be built in 3 sections.

I very much hope it does 

Fantastic layout. I still want to build my own large O-Gauge layout. You've given me some great ideas for my track plan. Keep up the good work. I'm looking forward to future layout updates. By the way, you need a good name for your layout.
