Hi everyone...Disassembled a 2343 for a total restore/repaint and refresh of the motors/tailhousing, & power trucks.

Old eunit  was toast- put in factory new( never installed) MPC era eunit. Goes gangbusters forward- no reverse at all. Checked the eunit operation, wiring etc everything in place.

Rechecked/resoldered all the solder joints to both engines that connect the two for tandem operation. Checked the power trucks for free operation with no motors attached to look for any kind of possible debris inside the gears, driveshaft, any magnetic bits of any kind on the magnetraction trucks. Found nothing to cause a bind going into reverse..

Still doesn't go in reverse. What have I missed?

Thanks for your input.

Some of the MPC e-units had wrong wire color coding.  The green wire, which is usually the field wire, is connected to the center fingers.  The wire from the outer 4-finger contact goes to the field, the center 4-finger wire and the bottom 2-finger go to the brushes.  You can advance the e-unit manually and note if the fingers touch the drum contacts in all 4 positions.  You can adjust the pawl or bend the fingers if they are not making contact.

Thanks for the help to both of you. Jong- I suspect it is the new eunit based on your comment.  I am not familiar with electronic terminology such as "field wire" etc. I am asking a favor? I usually get it after I see a picture-especially if it is color. Is there a way you can color code a picture of the wiring how the wires go to the tops of the motors and back to the eunit?

Then it is easier to proceed. The motors are balanced nicely (equal rpms), very aggressive forward motion, strong magnetraction, but no reverse operation. I am attaching pictures (side view and top view) of the current wiring setup for you to review.

Best Regards!
