253x passenger car bulkhead paint color?

I use Testor's shaker cans in Silver for this, a great match, just like a new original...

One safe way to strip paint would be Easy-off spray oven cleaner.  It doesn’t harm plastic, but use kitchen gloves when cleaning the oven cleaner off.  Use a used old toothbrush to get into the detail.  Rinse it off with warm soapy water, let it dry completely.  When you are ready to paint, I usually give the parts a quick wipe down with 91% isopropyl alcohol, (found at drug stores).  Use a primer (gray preferred), and then the chosen silver.

If you are close to a hobby shop, Testor's German metallic silver is dead on.

brake fluid also works as a stripper on plastic. Silver detail spray from eastwood is an excellent match and comes in bigger cans

Sounds right, used   to be called old silver.  I think iit is item 1246,  but that is off the top of my head...
