Hi everyone I've have this 261 frame and body on my shelf forever. So I take one of my motor collection and I can't figure out how it goes in. Greenbergs new book Lionel Trains O gauge Vol.2 1929-1936 says that the 261 takes a type 9 Motor but I just can't see how it fits. I've also tried a type 8 but that is the same size but that doesn't fit either. Anybody know what I'm doing wrong.

Sorry I can't send pictures now I only have a flip phone. But I think I figured it out. I will let you know.
If your motor is too early the rear slots are to low and the motor won't fit in the 261 frame. I noticed that when grabbing motor blocks from my junk box to put with a few 262's I was grouping parts for. The shape of the motor is the same, just the rear horizontal slots are lower. I think those are for the earlier electrics. Worth a check if your just matching parts from differnet sources.
Thanks for the info. I hit myself in the head then I realized how it goes in the slots.I'm actually going to put in a type 8 but noe I know to check the slots for the right height. On another note does anybody know who sells the lionel color rattle can spray?
