3 or 5mm LEDs and a bunch more questions

I am building an 3 rail O gauge layout. I am ready to build the control panel and here are so  facts of the layout. two loops, three sidings, an inside loupe and a turntable that feeds from both sides of the layout.

I am using a Lionel KW190.  Do I want to use dp/dt/center off 5 amp toggles? 3mm or 5mm LEDs for occupancy, the Ross switch controllers or momentary button that are lighted? What in the devil have I missed?
