I have a steam engine MTH 20-3313-1 and it is a 3 to 2 rail type with a stalling problem. The locomotive is build with no power pick up and a rear trailling wheel with a wiper touching both wheels axels and the wiper is fixed on an insulated bracket. There no reading on ohmmeter between the wiper and the loco body. Can somebody from the forum could explain me the purpose of this hook up.

It would be a pick up for 2 rail operation. I would have to trace the wire to tell for sure. Does it have continuity to either side of the locomotives wheels? I may have a 2R-3R loco in the que that I can look at. Documentation is a little short on the 2R-3R wiring. G

The truck is mounted on 4 isolated plastic bushing
The left side of each wheels is insulated and the right side of each wheel is in contact with the right rail and the whiper
(probably the power pick-up for the two rail) as you mention earlier.
I need the ground strap(picture 1) for the front truck of my tender and my local LHS told me that mth does not know when the parts gone be availlebel. Let me know on my E mail if somebody as one spare for me
