What is the difference, in operation, between the original post-war 313 bascule bridge and the newer release #6-12948 ?

The later is a very smooth operating bridge with a DC motor.
Thanks Marty. Does the#6-12948 bridge use any electronics ? I see there is another version, #6-22972.
One bridge looked like PW and one was painted black. The PCB on both is the same. I have replaced a few of those. The last one I did was on my own bridge.

Hi Dan I'll be posting an early Bascule bridge on the for sale section hopefully later today. It is the one with a solid axle and not the one with the spring connecting the motor to the gear box. I can drop off at York on Friday or ship. Lenny J
The great thing about the Modern Era bridge is that you can leave it up if you prefer.

Good point Jon. Some guys drive a Ford and others a Chevrolet. One great thing about the hobby, we have choices.
The Modern Era bridge has more vertical clearance for trains. (4 1/2" from top of rail to bottom strut)
My bridge, product number 6-22972, stopped providing power to the track when the bridge is down. Circuit board problem?
