I talked the group restoring B&M 3713. While work is progressing slowly they can only do has much work as money allows.  They figure another 800,000 grand to complete the project.  So while NW 611 and other projects get most of the attention I highly recommend donating to this worthy project.

On another note for those New England folk who know the Steamin Tender Restaurant in Palmer Ma, you know about the Porter Steam Engine in the parking lot.  There is a group who is going to restore her to operation to run on the Mass Central RR in Palmer and Ware.  When complete she will be the only operating steam engine in the state of Mass.  When they get a website, I'll post updates here and a place to donate to this worthy project.  They figure around 500,000 to complete this project.

What about the Edaville Railroad in South Carver, Massachusetts?  Last I knew that had two operating steam locomotives.

Maybe he means "standard gauge, main line capable" operating steam locomotive?

Correct, just like I don't count the two live steamer clubs operating steam engines.  Besides Edaville is amusement park and a bad one at that.

To help in the fundraising project of this locomotive, two collectible boxcars are being made by RGS Trains.  The O gauge version debuted at the show.  The graphics are pretty sharp.  Dummy me, I did not take a photo to post here, but these and an HO version will be available for sale soon via the Lackawanna & Wyoming Valley chapter and the 3713 web site.  The links need to be established.

Just for general information, Weaver made a very credible "0" gauge model of this engine, this past year.  Available in either 2 rail or 3rail with TMCC, it really is a nice looking and operating engine.  At last check they still have a few left for sale.  New England engine models are fairly rare and this will certainly be the only chance to get a model of one of these engines.
