I've got one of those that has been boxed up for a long time. I love the looks of the model but the running was erratic - the 3rd rail models at that point just before switching to command had a speed control that led to excessive vibrations. How much effort was the conversion?
it isn't much tougher than any other that I've done. Of course I can say that now. They all take me to the limits of my talent. I would love to send them out for conversion.
Here's another that I did. Basically they're the same steps. I do like to add wipers in extra areas for better track pick-up. The engine runs better with the newer boards as soon as they're installed.

I still have to correct the main drivers timing so that the two sets are at different clock positions.
That is a very handsome locomotive Joe - I especially like it without the glaring white stripe on most other models...
Someone had painted that white stripe down one side and I took it off. It wasn't painted very well and didn't appear straight or cover fully.
