May I ask what did you use for the floor carpet?

Of course! I used those texture papers for architecture models. However, I soaked it in white glue once applied so the fabric specs wouldn't end up everywhere in th car.

For the floor carpet of my superliner, I used also textures (from SKETCHUP) and I printed them directly on self adhesive paper (according to the 2D plans, so I have automatically the cutting for the partitions or other thing); it's easier than gluing and makes a neat work.

This car is, as usual, splendid!

Experimenting with interior lighting.... I don't think I'll keep the interior color, love the bright green but doesn't feel right for a diner, warm beige perhaps? Th LEDs are warm yellow and I used a resistor to dim them a bit, I will add fixtures that will simulate lamp screens and will diffuse the light a bit more.

The ligh covers are made w cold porcelain. I covered the wires w painted plastic sheet

The effect is subtle and best viewed with low lights... However I do need to change the interior color as it gives a green tint to the light...

thanks, gentlemen.  I used wrapping paper soaked in white glue and acrylic paint. For the flowers I used static grass and sugar, then painted the flowers w acrylic paint. The vases are small plastic jewels.

Got a William Glick coming my way... that should help! 

As usual, a project that I don't think much of suddenly turns into a 4-6 month thing

But a wonderful project!

This remember me the long trips by train with my parents where we used to go for lunch in the dining car years ago! incredible but past era....! what we ate was of awesome quality in a quiet atmosphere, for sure much better than the rubbery and tasteless sandwiches of the TGV, sat on unconfortable stools!..........

Not everything is a pretty sight around here.... Today I removed the supports for the factory installed lights, then I sanded down the interior walls. Now I have to figure out how to layer the window film, the shades and the interior wall.... Everything is tentative right now...

If I can make you a suggestion:

The photos you posted of the dining cars inside are in black and white; so I can't see how are the interior walls; but if you want to add some style, I suggest to put on the walls some "wood veneer" with golden edging like were the dining and pullmann cars in Europe (look at the photos I posted). It's easy to do with SKETCHUP textures like the exemple I made for you below:

The colors can be obviously changed (mahogany, teak....) and be fitted to your preference, its just an exemple of what is possible to make........

Then, you can print them on a gloss photo paper and glue on the walls.

I can do it for you, if you don't have the software and if you want.........

Just an idea......

Hey thank you! I need to look into that! Let me see what I can do, if not I'll take you up on that one. I do want to keep it simple but resolved, it's a delicate balance between between our hands and the model itself.
