I have a 3rd rail brass chlorine car from 1998 that I want to remove the artwork to rename and renumber. I don't want to repaint it but will if I have to, but am curious the best way to remove the artwork--solvaset or other method? Since this is an older model I am not sure what would be best without damaging paint. Thanks

Try 91% or 100% isopropyl alcohol on the underside of the car first, just in case.

I guess it all depends on what the used to seal the decals. If anything. If it’s clear coated it’s pretty tough to get them off without re painting. I removed most of the lettering from a factory lettered Precision Scale car using Scotch tape. Just applied it over it and burnished it in. I got most of it off. I was giving it a fresh coat of paint anyways so the last few bits that remained I took off with a very fine scuff pad.
@taycotrains I would do that, but something about this lettering just screams at me. Off topic--what truck is in the background of your profile pictures? 50's Ford F100? I have a 65 Chevy C10.
@CBQer Good idea. I will have to see if I have some. I used to, but we moved cross country and left most liquids behind.
@Dave_C I forgot about scotch tape. I will try it if all else fails. I may repaint the entire car black anyway...if the paint comes off...repaint it is!
