Anyone else have these on reserve? Looks like Scott has the project coming along nicely. They will certainly fill in a few gaps in my CP roster
I have added a few pics of these engines from various locations around Canada during steam days

Yes I have one on order, a streamlined one.
I received a email from Scott saying that he was delaying production for a few months because of our sh!tty dollar exchange, (don't quote me, the e-mail was along those lines) It helps because I just payed off the train of tomorrow, the nicest piece I own right now. If I could I would buy both, streamlined and un-streamlined but it is just to much $$$.
These locomotives were regulars on the CPR International of Maine Division. Pretty tough customers!
Well, I just reserved one.
I gott'a get off of this board! You guys will put me in the poorhouse!
I'm a sucker for CP steam!
Say, anyone EVER offer a T-1a Selkirk? The original, unstreamlined one manufactured in 1929?
Nice looking engine's for sure, I just hope that he takes the time to produce the "C&O K2 and K3 Models of the "Mikado". Flying front pumps/compressors on the boiler fronts, pilot mounted head lights, just do something for a steam locomotive, should have been a "State Law"................................Brandy!

Sorry Brandy, but Sunset/3rd Rail has not received sufficient reservations/orders for either the C&O 2-8-2s nor the NYC H10a/b 2-8-2s. Thus they are not in the production schedules yet.
Yeah, I always forget the NYC H 10's a/b. When I was a Kid in Louisville,Ky. C&O shared a yard in downtown Louisville, called water street yard. I saw quite a few of the H10's there. The shared yard was owned by the old "Big Four". Big Four freight yard was Across the river in Jeffersonville. I was able to bicycle across the bridge and was able to see them there. They were massive as far as 2-8-2's went, but I liked the C&O best.
How many does it take? A hundred? More?
So, I take it three committals for a T-1a (mine and 2 for Albert) are not enough?
Thanks for bringing CP8000, the T-4a to my attention. From reading Lavellee, it seems her history was short and checkered, including enginemen booking off sick rather than running her!

50 to 100 pieces, generally.
More?
More is always better.

You are quite correct. Besides, Sunset/3rd Rail already produced a CP 2-10-4 model some years ago.

If Scott would be open to different versions to the Nyc H10 like the version B&A had I'd be game

But how many additional reservations/orders would that provide? When the necessary quantities for production of a steam model are around 100 pieces, and only 25 to 30 reservations/orders are generated,,,,,,,well, the project simply can not proceed.
Luckily the NYC had many subs, which all used the H10. Scott, didn't get the order with two versions maybe adding a few more would push it over the top. Only one way to find out
Here is another Pic taken in the 1950's
of two CPR locomotives that apparently had a mishap. Not sure of anymore details
Perhaps Others might have more information

Well....I finally got my 2 Mikes paid for and just waiting for them to come in
Had to sell a lot of stuff off, but I did it.
Now just have to start working on the layout, once I get all the boxes and packing stuff put away

Here is a picture of what I think is a Builders Photo(white walls on all wheels).
Also appears to have the earlier shield before "Spans the World" with beaver.
She's a beauty..eh?
That is a beauty Al! I love the CPR steam, but a certain someone talked me out of my CPR models. You'll have to send me a photo of the whole fleet once you get your Mikes.
Nick
Hello Nick!
Lol I will get some pics to you once their delivered(hopefully next month).
Al
Found this awesome pic of a recently shopped Mike probably taken in Calgary at Ogden Shops.
Note the typical western freight scheme with graphite smokebox
Al
Scott....any pics of updates of the new Mikes for us guys on the Forum?
Al
Any word or better yet, picture of these models? Im hoping the production is just about finished.
(the anticipation is killing me)
Al
Al, Al . . . patience, patience!!! LOL!
I'm waiting for mine too. A picture would be nice!
Ok Terry, I hope you would of jumped in before I did here.
What delivery date are we looking at for the Mikes? I can wait of course but would like to make some room on my shelves , before these two beauties when they show up lol
Al
Well, it looks like another month to 6 weeks before we get our CP Mikes. Starting to wonder if I made a mistake. Only ordered the one unstreamlined. Maybe I should have one of each???
At least we have pictures now! LOL!
I must say that as a Canadian I am outraged at our Canadian government right now. With our dollar valued at only 76 cents USD it is costing me 400.00 CANADIAN for 300.00 Dollars US. I would buy 2 of these if it didn't cost me 1750.00 Canadian plus 13% Canadian sales tax when it ships over the border. F***** government.

It's actually worse than that. One US dollar will cost you over $1.30 CDN, unless you happen to be a bankster. You also forgot to factor in duty on top of the GST. Then there's the shipping...literally highway robbery. As much as I desire the latest and greatest, ordering new these days is akin to financial Russian Roulette. For those who paid in advance, Bravo!
Don't be too quick to jump down our governments throat. It's a strengthening US dollar that is really to blame here. Still, it baffles me why the dollar difference is in their favour when us Canuck's supposedly escaped the recession.

Oh, my poor, suffering fellow Canadians, I too feel the pain!!!!
You boys will love the new Mikes. 3Rd Rail has never disappointed me with the accuracy, quality and excellent operating product they produce. And, it's at a price point that's reasonable (all things considered).
I own 5 Sunset/3rd Rail locomotives and would never sell any of them.
Enjoy your new Mikes, I want to see photos when you receive them!
Could you Canadian compatriots order your CPR Mike from a US dealer, then "sneak" across the border to pick it up? Tell 'em at the border that "it is used".
Oh, Mark! Tsk, tsk!
You're urging us to "criminal" behaviour!
Often, yeah even VERY often!, we Canucks whine about high taxes.
That admitted, the real hurt here is not about taxes at all, but about the machinations of international currency markets which seem arbitrary, capricious, and, seemingly, almost ALWAYS, detrimental to any Canadian who opens his wallet! Somehow, it all seems "crooked?"
Taxes are unpleasant, but they have funded two hernia surgeries, a colonoscopy, a throat endoscopy, several kidney stone procedures, a cat scan and, heaven knows what I've forgotten, in the past five years for me alone! With nary a sou for a bill, nor to a rapacious insurance company!
It's the currency traders that are "the evil doers" here and they are impossible to evade by sneaking toys past Canada Customs.
Now, if we could just get 3rd Rail to accept the loonie at par . . . .
Somehow, "ain't happenen"" seems appropriate.
Well, I've decided. Using the "it's only money" mantra that is a fav of mine, and has caused me so much grief over the years, I'll spring for two of these Mikes! Waiting to hear from 3rdRail if there's still time for a streamlined one to double head with my previously ordered unstreamlined one!
If not, someone will back out on theirs, I'm sure!

Run your loco on the test rack, roll it up in some old towels and tell 'em it's used!
Uh oh. There's some loud knocking on my door. Some big fellows in red coats. Ahh, Boy! Mounties!!
Just a bit of solace for those wracked with guilt about springing for a CPR Mike. I recently spotted that my Sunset 3rd Rail CPR K1a 4-8-4 sold for a $1000 more then I paid for it.....at BrassTrains.com. See.......it's an investment.......an investment!!!!
You're beyond our help now! Watch out for tasers!

Price of oil at $100/barrel = Canadians get better exchange
Ditto at $50/barrel + strong US$ = lousy exchange rate.
I dunno, at this exchange rate I might have to return to backwoods-budget O scale again, even 2-rail.
