I have a WTIU and a Base 3 coming and I know there are a lot of posts on both of those, but many people posting are NOT new to both.  I came in when the shortage of the old Legacy and TIU were in full bloom so I waited.

I have a DCS Explorer so I am not completely unfamiliar with DCS and I run LC+ 2.0 with universal remote and also conventional.  Layout has two loops each controlled either together or separately by Z-1000 and Z-750 so wiring and power is not an issue (I don't think).

It's just hooking it all up so it works.  Which posts are spot on (to date)?  I watched Sean's Trains video on the WTIU, but it didn't include both systems.  I watched Mike Wolf discuss it as he appeared at several stores, but it's just talk with no demo.

I just need to be pointed in the most helpful direction for starters before they arrive this week.

Thanks,

John

Base3 connects with 1 wire to "common"

WTIU replaces your TIU and is still just 4 lanes of pass through power.

If, and this is a huge if- you want to spend extra money to connect serial data between BASE3 and WTIU, the cables have not yet shipped.

Train enthusiast to fellow train enthusiast- that is a pretty expensive connection- Requires a PDI cable, LCS SER2 module, and the yet to be released WTIU USB to serial data cable. Last check, a PDI cable is $10-20, a SER2 is roughly $70, and the special WTIU cable is an unknown price?

Thanks Vernon.  I don't have a TIU, just a DCS Explorer, but the diagram seems pretty easy.  The Z-750 and Z-1000 are like two sides of the Z-4000 so that's clear.

Much appreciated.  I'll wait on the extra cables until I make sure everything works.
