Hi Folks,

Back in China checking all the details and colors on our FP7 Diesel Production. This project is taking a little longer than expected. They should be done October 20th and arrive mid November.  Along with the FP7s, are the 2nd Run Coaches and Santa Fe Super Chief Sets. All will be delivered in the same container Middle of November.

I should have a sample of our new SP AC9 for the York Show. Look for the AC-9 to arrive in December/ January. It boasts the new OEM Articulated Sound System. Much louder, better sounds.

The reservations for our Aluminum Sets are all full. The PRR 1938 Broadway, B&O Columbian Set B, are all going into production Next Month. Look for delivery in January.

Our builder in Korea is done with the GN08 production. I will head to Korea early next week to inspect these and authorize shipping them. These models will be ready to ship to you in late October.

We have several new projects to announce. Here they are:

- Timken 4 Aces and NP A-1 #2626 (Black or Grey Boiler)

- RDC-1 and RDC-2 in ABS with improved details and a more accurate roof.

- Santa Fe Fans - How about the #3460 Class Super Hudson. It is up on our web site for your review.

- SP S-12 0-6-0 Switcher. Come and gettem.

Once you see our ad in the next OGR magazine, you will know of our next DIesel project. (Hint, "Frank" "Tom"). We will post them on our web site soon.

The rest of our projects are proceeding well. I keep track of them all and push the builders to go as fast as they can, without compromising quality.

The N&W Mollies are in production and they tell me February is the completion date. They also told me April 2013, June 2013 and August 2013. It will happen, just takes time. The engineering sample was awesome, ran very very smooth.

The B&O P-7e is in full design mode. When we get some 3D images I will post them. Still fewer reservations than I would like to see. Don't be shy, get one if you are a B&O Fan. You won't regret it. This one is part of our I3D Team Process. I - Integrated 3 D Design. It is how our C&NW H1, SP GS-4, Diesels and Passenger Cars are now designed here in Qingdao. It is a Korean team that leads Chinese engineers in the design of our models.

The PRR L-1 is being made by Boo Rim's subcontractor. He makes the most beautiful and accurate castings. This guy made our UP FEF and VGN 2-10-10-2, so you should know that he is capable of great things. Slower than our other builders, this project probably won't be out until early 2014.

Next for this guy is the Erie Berkshire. We will have a sample for review at York.

The Canadian train is still waiting for the last injection tool to be replaced. If broke during production. This set us back 1 month. We expect to have these cars in early 2014 now.

The Modernized HW coaches are in production again after a factory shutdown delayed them for over 1 year. We still have all your reservations, and room for more. Once we have a firm delivery date, we will send out the notices.

So visit our web site, see what we got. There is something for everyone.

Cheers from China.

I don't care about the type of whistle.  I would just like to see Sunset do another run of the P-8/P-10's...specifically the 2472.  Also...I'm not familiar with all of Sunset's past runs or production.  I don't know if they did, but I'd like to see them produce...or do another run of an SP Mikado.  Matt

I've said it before and I'll say it again; start a campaign and get a goodly number of folks to commit. Scott can't produce a particular locomotive on speculation. That's the way to turn a modest fortune into poverty.

This is the real bottom line and Scott goes much further out of his way to make things happen than anyone else.  If you go to any of the meets where he or Bob Heil hang out go say hi and get your coconspirators to do likewise.  It actually takes surprisingly few.  Most everything you see from 3rdRail/GGD has resulted from folks doing just that.

BUT!!!!! when the question back is "So I can put you down for a reservation" and your answer is "Oh, not me, but..."  Your credibility just turned to dust.  And if there is not a minimal critical mass just accept that you are probably the only person or maybe one of a half dozen who actually would fork over $ for one.

I've been waiting for over 35 years for SD/GP39s. Midwestern is taking reservations for SD39s and I'm down for a number of them, probably the only person.

It just boggles the mind how many people say make this and you'll sell a million of them are just absolutely wrong.  When the 3rd Rail E7s were announced folks said where is Penn Central?  And when Scott went the trouble of paying for the artwork and offering Penn Central he got two reservations.

 Richard,

That is the most concise summation of the situation I have ever heard or read.

In my opinion you forgot the fourth and most important 'C':

Customers -- preferably Satisfied Customers.  Scott's got that one covered too.

Just my opinion, but I seriously doubt that Scott Mann will be offering ANY models of that "new diesel stuff". He does MUCH better at producing models that no one else has done ACCURATELY in 3-Rail/2-Rail, especially UNDER $2500 each!

Scott

I still say you should do some GP40-2LW Canadian Wide Cab units!!

I know there's limited interest in units like these, but I also know that interest is strong and you could reserve more than enough to do a run. You're probably the only way these would ever get made in O scale.

and the CN North America scheme too.

Maybe some others here will second my motion? Maybe... Anyway, I think it's something you should consider. Give it some thought.
