The Chinese red paint job should make some CB&Qers happy. There was a push for this paint on another 3rd Rail diesel but It didn’t happen. It will be Nice to see this red paint job done.

Not in my case. Unlike the GP30s, the SD7/9s worked in dual service for the Q. Besides they represent considerably different time frames. I’m painting my own CB&Q SD9 in Chinese red.  Not super happy about having to do it, but should make for an interesting project.  But I wouldn’t swap my reservation for one of these.

Regarding the prospect of doing an ATSF patchout or BNSF unit, Scott said, "The problem with modern diesel versions is that they have a lot of changed details. We usually stick to the early versions". I'd still like some of these units added to this run. If some of the others interested could email him, that would help sway him. Also, we could look at the units in the BNSF fleet now to see if there are some that have fewer detail changes than others to help make this happen.
