ok af prewar brainiacs,i need a steamchest for af prewar 3/16th "O" gauge Hudson,would a steamchest from a 3/16 postwar "S" gauge Hudson (they look the same) fit it,i need one eitherway thanks

No, the S one is narrower, you need the prewar O version unfortunately, sorry Terry
sorry, you've seen these pics before, but compare the steamchests on the S engine's with Red coaches. They tuck under the running boards, then see the O engine's with Green coaches, how they stick out past the running boards.

Interesting. I thought the 3/16th O was the precursor to the S gauge trains. I just assumed they were the same. I love learning "the easy way".

A lot is the same but the chest has to be wider due to the wheel gauge and resulting siderid width. Even the siderods have a few unique pieces. You can look for 570, 531, 5640 as descriptors on Ebay and you can prbably find one or parts. I think Jeff Kane at Train tender may have repros as well. Not sure if Harry has them but he might.
