This new-to-me 30+ yr-old DL&W Northern runs ok after lubing all the external moving parts. But am I missing a chassis lube point at the motor output end ? Do these 2 black screws enable motor removal & replacement without a bunch of small parts falling out, etc ?

Add oil in the hole between the two black screws and pop out the silver plate and grease the worm and worm wheel below it. That should take care of it. If you pull the two black screws there could be shims between the motor and the frame.
