I make this trip on a semi regular basis. I write as I go....more so I don't forget....but I like to share too.

Not many will read it.....or all of it. But it surprises me how many will.

Any comments or questions welcome. Thanks

PS....it's not ALL trains......but the trip in whole....

We can relate. My wife Paula and myself travel long distance exclusively by train using bedroom accommodations when we vacation. We have probably traveled well over 100,000 Amtrak miles going to Seattle, Chicago, New Orleans, Florida, The Wisconsin Dells, DC, and other cities. This year we will travel from PHL to DEN, a two day trip. We would never fly again as we despise the filthy, crowded, unhealthy dehumanizing conditions of air travel. Prisoners get better treatment than air passengers. Some of the trains that we have traveled on are the Cardinal, Crescent, Capitol Limited, Empire Builder, California Zephyr, Lake Shore Ltd, The Acela and of course the NE regional trains.

If you booked a sleeper then you appreciated the first class lounges in NY, Chicago, Washington DC, Los Angeles and New Orleans. If you like private accommodations the bedroom w private bath can't be beat but its also expensive.

Thanks Dave! Your trips are always interesting reads. You should have called when you were in San Diego I would have given you the 50 cent tour. My wife and I are traveling to Buffalo on the SWC and the Lake Shore Limited in May. It will be our first time in a long time and we are looking forward to it.
