Seasons Greetings,

I replaced the pickup wire from the rollers.  I have reattached the e-unit, which checked out mechanically and electrically.  I have checked and verified power to the motor, including a continuity check of the commutator plate which is same for all three poles.

The yellow wire to the brush plate runs from the e-unit power side and the remaining yellow wire on the drum pick up side is connected to the motor coil connection.

When i connect power the e-unit is working.  Either by the direct power by pass or through the e-unit motor hums.  I feel the magnetic field energizing but the armature will not spin.

Any one have a suggestion?

Was it running before you worked on it?  It's highly unlikely that the armature or field suddenly developed a short.  My top suspect is the e-unit, perhaps one or more of the fingers not making good contact with the drum.

I would bypass the e-unit altogether and connect the armature and field in series:  Rollers --> brush 1 (through the armature) brush 2 --> Field lead (through the field) --> field ground.  The motor should run in one direction.  If it does, the e-unit is at fault.  Good luck and please post back with what you find!
