Skanska to build $66M test track for Metro

http://www.bizjournals.com/was...etro-test-track.html

The new facility will be used to test and commission new and rehabilitated rail vehicles. It will have a 10,000-foot-long test track, a 50-foot-long mock platform and a maintenance area.

And you thought DCS and Legacy were pricey gimmicks?

Hi Farmer, sounds interesting. I tried to go to the Washington Business Jurnal link you provided to read up on the project and to try and get a handel on who Skanska is, but the pop-ups got in the way. Boy the internet is getting worse then pay TV with commercials, by the time I clicked off all the adds I forgot what I was looking for. I guess I'm just getting old.

As for the test track, will this be for all transportation companies or just Amtrak? In any case it shows positive growth for the industry and that is a good thing.

here's the text from the article:

Skanska USA  Inc. has won a $66 million contract to design and build a rail test track, parking garage and other facilities near the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority's  Greenbelt maintenance yard in Prince George's County.

The new facility will be used to test and commission new and rehabilitated rail vehicles. It will have a 10,000-foot-long test track, a 50-foot-long mock platform and a maintenance area.
