Did it make it today? Rumor has it, they were going to put 765 in the roundhouse right next to 759 only issue was the height of the coal extender on the tender. Some say they had a inch to spare and some say no inch to spare. Hope they can fit her in. Would love to see some pics.

It certainly would make sense, since it will be running over the Nicholson Viaduct to Binghampton in September. Someone was telling me that Steamtown fess are waved for Tuesday, so that would be a good day for folks nearby to check it out.

Inside or outside, No. 765 is well worth a visit.
I know it went north through Walnutport with the Operation Lifesaver diesel leading around 5pm. I lost the chase at Jim Thorpe (since traffic was at a stand still), so I don't know how far it got or if it made it.
Michael- any photos to share from the chase?
Two of my uncles used to live right along the tracks about 1/4 mile west of Treichlers. I would have loved to have been there today When it came through.
When I was a kid all three tracks were still being used, now only one remains.
Rolling into the roundhouse as I write this.
The highest point on the locomotive is NOT the coal boards. It is the exhaust pipe on the left side turbo-generator at 16' 5". It will clear.
Hello Rich,
I watched you coming in. I was with the Park Service staff at the tower.
Smart move no using the automatic brake on the shoving move. I've piloted many long cars through the north leg.....tight...lots of pressure on the rails.
The arrival looked pretty flawless.
I trust everyone will get a good nights sleep...long day.

Nice pic of both side by side on Fort Wayne's facebook page.
Will 765 be out at all or will she be resting in the roundhouse till Rail fest? We missed her last night at the Moosic crossing due to a very slow car in front of us.
Glenn
She'll be in the roundhouse until Labor Day weekend.
We have some repairs to take care of while she is in the house.
Rich ,
Thank you very much. I am looking forward to seeing her in person. My Brother was lucky enough to see her in Pittston and said how smooth and quiet for such a massive machine. We come from a Railroad family. Erie Railroad. Wyoming Division . Hats off to you and the group.
Any public access there?
The round house tour I believe . You can also walk around the top portion of the rear of the house. The last time I was there we were able to do that.

759 @ Steamtown.
759 got some cosmetic restoration via the 2008 Fed Stimulus package. There is a secure walking platform area at the front of most of the locomotives in the roundhouse storage area. I believe the walking platform can be accessed without supervision. Shop and shop tours are by NPS ranger guided tours only, once or twice per day. Call to verify shop tours.
If there is work to be done on 765 @ Steamtown, most likely the locomotive will be housed in the shop area behind the roundhouse. Again, Shop tours are supervised.
Steamtown facebook page is showing this picture.

There will be many photos of the chase Saturday and Monday, as well as from on the train Sunday. I just started a new job, so it may be a few days or even a couple weeks before I get to them.
