Pennsyk4,

Thanks for posting this.  I wish I would have known that the 765 was headed that way rather than the route via Cleveland and ex-NKP as the route tracker showed this morning.  I missed out on it totally due to this change.   I was prepared for 765 at Rocky River until seeing that the route changed from the suggested route on the tracker site, and then not enough time to get south and west.  Nice videos.  Thanks!

I'm asked to post this from Mr. Kelly Lynch.

The tracker route was being updated and was never intended to display the Cleveland Line yesterday. We apologize for the inconvience this may have caused!

Some of you guys just don't get it. You're going to boo and complain to NS without realizing that WE chose to go via Mansfield and Bucyrus!

We wanted to avoid the inevitable delays that occur trying to get through Cleveland. We also did not want to be on the Cleveland line any longer than we had to, because that line sees 80+ trains per day. The Fort Wayne line has far fewer trains.

Part of making this whole program a success for Norfolk Southern is finding ways to minimize the delays to freight traffic - the trains that earn the revenue that allow NS to do things like have steam trains on the railroad. By choosing to go via the much less-traveled Fort Wayne line we had much less impact on the freight business than going via Cleveland. We also got to Bellevue sooner because it would likely have taken 3 hours just to get through Cleveland.

There are a lot more things in play behind the scenes on a program like this than you might think.
