Just a curiosity question for Rich and Jack:
614's tender was modified to carry more coal. If my memory serves, 44 tons vs. 22 tons as built, reducing water capacity down to 18,000 gallons. But, with the A tank, it still carried enough water to go approx. 350 miles.
So my question is, if there was enough money to convert 765's tender to hold more coal, do you think FWRHS would do it? How much would something like this cost? Obviously, most excursions do not require that much coal, but at times it would help, especially on the dead-head moves? Big cost/benefit question.
