Went up to chase the 765 on Saturday as she began her 4000 mile journey on NS. What a show NS and the 765 crew put on! Very proud and lucky to say I'm a part of it!

My video and a bit of warning----it's hard trying to take stills and video at the same time!

The tuscan car behind the 8100 belongs to the Fort Wayne Railroad Historical Society. It is used as our tool/crew car. It recently was repainted, relettered and named "Glenn E. Brendel". Glenn was one of the founders and past president of the FWRHS and passed away last year.

The rest of the beautifully matched consist belongs to Mid America Railcar.

We were talking on Saturday in the crew car about how we think this is the first time the 765 has pulled a complete matching passenger consist in her excursion career.

Nice video Zac.  She sure looks great, the twin sealed beam headlight looks good, I always liked that look the best...  The tool car looks great with the fresh paint.  I also see there isn't any open vestibules...I forgot is that a new NS policy?  Again great video and I wish the entire 765 group much success on these trips.

It certainly is a nice looking train and the first day's run from Bellevue to Bucyrus and back was perhaps the best weather we have had all summer - sunny with limited white clouds and not at all hot, simply gorgeous. There were lots of railfans up and down the line chasing the trips. The late afternon trip benefitted photographers by being quite late to depart Bellevue and hitting the sweet light of late afternoon, very lovely, that last run.

The water stop is in Ashville, OH, 13 miles south of Columbus. The folks in Ashville are all excited about it and we are looking forward to the stop. Check their web site! Scroll down the home page just a little to see the announcement.

Since we are stopping right on the main line this will be a 20 to 30-minute stop at best. We will shoot the rods, fill the lubricators and go. Whatever water we get on board in that time will be plenty to get to Portsmouth. We won't top off the tanks in Ashville. That takes too long and we don't need that much water here.

Rich, do you know if your route from Altoona/Horseshoe Curve to Harrisburg will take you along the Norfolk Southern line North towards Tyrone, then Eastward through Huntingdon and Lewistown then follow the path of the Juniata River to Harrisburg?  If so, are there any resources available to get estimated times for various locations or are you traveling at the mercy of the NS freight logisticians?  Thanks.
