Well figured someone might have heard about it coming their way after Sacramento. The UP site didn't list the current trip until the one earlier this month was completed, yet it was announced that the 844 would be in Ogden two months ago by the local POC

Somehow I doubt they went to Sacramento without the return trip already well planned

Well I did hear from one NoCal railfan that the reason there is no departure from Sacramento is that this is the 844's last trip. She is going to be put on display in CA

After I finished laughing and told him to put down the crack pipe, I told him even if the UP were to park the 844, it would not go to CA but prob to Cheyenne or Omaha.

Lisa Stark, Director for Community Affairs for UP, confirmed that UP will be bringing an assortment of snow equip to display at Colfax Railroad Days. (October 6th and 7th).

She also confirmed that the 844 heritage train will stop in Colfax eastbound on Thursday Oct 4 about 10:30 am. The purpose of the stop is to make a special presentation to the City of Colfax declaring Colfax a "Train Town USA" recognizing the town's role in the history of the First Transcontinental Railroad."

So Sacramento - Sparks on the 4th is a safe bet.  From there, I would guess overnights in Elko, Ogden, and Rock Springs, arriving Cheyenne on the 8th.

Keep an eye on upsteam.com early next week.

Interesting, It's Monday and the 844 has gone "Off the Radar". No update to the schedule at UPSteam, in fact it shows nothing now. No Tweets, GPS shows it at Sacramento still

Oh well guess I will keep waiting, I can't imagine they would stealth it back to WY and seems off no schedule is posted.

Does seem to be a bit disorganized at the moment
