Not bad for a catalog that was "supposed to" just be a recap of Vol 1!
I like the ( renumbered) "1200" NYC ten wheeler, it will go better with my "later era " steam
I can see 2015 is going to be an expensive year in our little train ville! I'm in the for the Alco S2 Burlington switcher and the Lackawanna camelback in LC+. Sure hope they make them this time. Even the diner has high prices!
Much larger than I thought it would be.
What a great catalog, Lionel hits it out of the park again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

There does seem to be a lot of duplication from the previous catalog, but also a number of new items. I'm in for the extra set of PFE reefers, I need to "pad out" my consist for the Big Boy!
There is so much to choose from. I like the plug and play accessory Fastrack system. NICE!
Like the Lionchief Plus NW2 switchers, see street prices right around $200 for these
already.
I promised myself yesterday when ordering a new LC+ Mikado that "This is it" (said that before.......)
I'm willing to stick to that, however, despite the roadnames not being my preference, I wouldn't be surprised if an LC+ Camelback found its way into my home one day.
Their best catalog in years but some very high prices. It'll be hard to resist some of their new items. I'm with Terrence on the plug & play fast track items very cool.
J Daddy get the engine. What a treasure that one will be.
For a Vol 2, it's a great catalog.
What a great surprise that they are bringing back their grain elevator.

I usually don't get excited over catalogs, but this one, WOW! I already am thinking of the 10 wheeler, S2, some of the animated items, and freight cars. Been a long dry time, but Lionel got me. I'm ready to order.
There is a high nose GP30 in the new catalog. This is big news for me as I consider that model long overdue in O gauge.

I'm liking that Gantry Crane !
I like the selection of PS-1's too
I'm liking that Gantry Crane !
I am curious if these have the electronics in the crane vs the controller. The older TMCC cranes had a lot of delay in their response to commands. Good question for Lionel at York.

As other have said, wow. Very impresssed.
The operating accessories are very cool and I think I have an NW2 switcher in my future. They've always been one of my favorite locos going back to the PW days and these have Lion Chief, Plus. Didn't pull the trigger on the last batch of LC+ items but will snag one of these (likely the B&O).
WOW!! Nothing caught my fancy this time. MTH???
...keep the rails polished...
As a 2-Railer I don't expect much from a Lionel catalog. I am glad to see them continuing the Kadee mounting pads on newly tooled freight cars. I just wish they would offer replacement 2 rail trucks/wheels for them like MTH does. They really make nice cars and I would buy more if I didn't have to convert every one.
I do like the Magnet crane though. That might even find a home on my 2 rail layout
It will be interesting to see how this BTO thing does now that they have expanded it to cover the Legacy diesels as well.
That's quite normal for a Volume 2 catalog, Andrew.
But if we compare 2014 Vol 2 with 2013 Vol 2, I think 2014's is a much better catalog. The 2013 catalog was mostly an inventory clearance catalog, whereas this 2014 catalog has a healthier balance between old and new product. Gotta give Lionel kudos for that.
Now what really puzzles me is Lionel's announcing the incomparably fabulous Y6b before folks take delivery of the Big Boy. I don't know about most of you guys and gals, but the Y6b has always run circles around the Big Boy for me. The former JLC Y6b had unparalleled detail, and for years commanded premium pricing. So I wonder if some folks will be tempted to switch their pre-order from a Big Boy to a Y6b. That would cause a lot of commotion in the marketplace for sure if that happened, but I suppose anything is possible.
For that reason alone... if I were Lionel, I would have held off on the Y6b announcement to the 2015 Vol 1 catalog just to play it safe, since the Big Boy will have likely been in buyers hands by then.
Me personally? I'm really glad I passed on the Big Boy, because two Y6b's double-headed sound very tempting. Expensive... but tempting nonetheless.

While nothing Lionel ever really tempts me I do like they have offered engines weathered. I wish MTH would do small runs of those so those of us who like that realistic look could get them done right out of the box. I do like the grain elevator being reintroduced too and assembled. Its too bad I assembled 6 of them already or I'd get one of them. I do usually pick up a premium set but those were rather disappointing in this catalog.
Happy to see they are offering a lot of operating accessories. I think those should be available all the time. Maybe in their own an accessory catalog even. However, on some of the engine pricing, they hit it out of the park alright, definitely a home run there. The GP30's and Alco switcher's are nice, but the MSRP is way over my budget for diesels. Good thing they didn't make anything in my chosen road name.
