Now that I have explained the essence of the “Flyer Nut” gathering let me tell you about two of the fascinating things that appeared last April. A couple from Connecticut brought several items that were purchased at an auction where AC Gilbert’s factory examples and proposed products were placed on the block. Heidi and John Tench were the last presenters of the evening. Heidi’s father had attended the auction and brought home a number of goodies that were still in the family’s possession after her father passed away. They verified the items from the auction by connecting with noted Flyer expert Dan Olson, who was also at that auction.
What Heidi and John brought was just amazing. One was a metal case transformer with the shape of a 19B that had the horn button wired and built into the transformer. How wonderful would that been?
