I just picked up a #98 Inspection car at a show and another friend of mine mentioned that Lionel did one in blue. Is this correct? I never saw or heard of this before. Thanks for any input.

There is a modern era one I know. I have one. Light blue.
There are modern ones on Ebay all running about $90 - $95. But it seems to me I remember seeing a blue one in a friends collection of postwar, I may be wrong but do believe there out there, just not as common
OK thanks. So far modern and one possibly postwar
Postwar blue is VERY uncommon, much like the blue Boy's Train.
I wasn't sure about the blue and white model of the Executive Inspection Car being actually produced. I did some digging and I'm still not positive but for whatever its worth in Greenberg's Guide to Lionel Trains 1945 -1969, Volume V, Rare and Unusual by Paul V. Ambrose and Harold J. Lovelock it shows a photograph on page 41 of a blue and white Inspection vehicle but in the body of the text it refers to it only as pre-production model and refers to the red and white version as the standard production. Whether this means blue and white Inspection ever entered into actual production I don't know. All I do know is I've only seen red ones.
I believe the 6-18454 Blue Executive Inspection Car was produced in 2000 as part of Lionel's Archive Series with an MSRP of 129.95.
Thanks for the further information....It would/will be interesting to see page 41 of Vol. 5 if and when I find such a book. Thanks to all.
