A couple weeks ago, I had posted a searchlight car using a three light strip of leds. Admittedly, it was pretty clunky using just the parts I had on hand. So I bought a couple of Gunner John’s converters and a real led light bulb. The bulb is a six volt screw base (E10 size) which fits into the socket. The photos should be self explanatory.

You can also fold the tab of that regulator over the cap to lower the profile, that will allow you to close the lid on that silver box.
Thanks Gunner. Your converter is very cool. I wish I knew more about that stuff, but grateful for forum members willing to share ideas.
Well, we all started out from the same place, but as far as electronics, I just started out about 60 years ago!
Wow! 60 years. Impressive. No wonder you’re the “go to guy” for electronics on the forum.
I got into electronics at an early age.
I hope they maintained proper social distancing
Agreed- John is the guru of electronics.
So John, you got into electronics at age 5🤔? hahah. My only skill set was being able to repad a clarinet or saxophone using only a hot glue stick and a Bic lighter.
Don't send me a clarinet to fix or you'll be very disappointed! It'll be command controlled, have flashing LED's, and optional smoke!

John, was this just a hobby for you or were you an EE?
don
Well it was a hobby before I was an EE. But yes, it was my career as well. I started liking electronics when I was around nine or ten, within a couple of years I was building simple stuff. Of course, before I built much, I took a lot of stuff apart, part of the learning experience.
