The N&W 611 excursion from Salisbury to Asheville, NC this past Sunday gave the opportunity to do a comparison shot from when Southern 630 made the run over the Loops in April 2013.  This is a location called Bruner's Straight heading down the mountain.

Unfortunately, no shots of 765 here.  She never made it east of Asheville when she visited North Carolina in 1982.  Maybe one day...

If you will look at the curve up above Andrew's Geyser, you will see that they have done a massive job of cribbing. Close up, you could tell it is not quite finished. The old video that I saw of 630 up here, the cribbing looked to be made of crosstie like timbers.
