This past York, I had a transaction that I will remember every time I look at the two engines I bought. Walking around the member halls, the White Hall to be exact, I noticed two MTH Premier Maine Central GP38's. I model the MEC and was surprised to see them at the show given the geographic local and the scarcity of the units. MTH made only 75 of each of the three different numbered units. The units each had a fair price on them but as is the norm, I asked for his best price for both. I did mention to the seller that I only run TMCC and if I made the purchase, I would be swapping out the DCS electronics for ERR. At the time, it seemed to make no difference to him and the deal. Needing to confer with my CFO (who was out shopping at the outlet malls at the time, I told the seller I would be back. I returned the next morning after I got the okay to make the purchase. The units were still there and the seller remembered me. He told me he had been thinking about the deal also that night and had a different one for me (without me even telling him I was all set to purchase). He would drop the deal price a significant amount if I would agree to send him the removed DCS electronics motherboard after I made the conversion. He did not even want the smoke and sound units that I would not be using. We shook hands on the deal and I came home with the engines. Looks like I have added to my project list!

Hi Alan,
Nice to meet you and your wife, and make the deal. They look good!
Send me the DCS/Proto2 boards at your leisure. Also, send me an email, as I meant to get that from you and want to stay in contact that way.
Thanks again.
Amazing how this post has now closed the circle with the seller responding to my topic. Didn't know Steve was a forum member. Steve, it may take a few weeks to get these on my workbench for the removal process but when I do the electronics will be on their way. Thanks again for your trust and fairness.
Man those are good looking engines! And they look awesome side by side.Nick
