Was reading the latest Boat U.S. magazine and came across this article about the plans to increase service between Miami and Orlando.  Apparently the boating crowd is not pleased.  Seems like a good way to increase passenger service but...........

32 trains a day for just AAF?
That's quite a stretch.
I'd be surprised is AAF does 32 trains a week.
This same thing happened during the planning for the SunRail project and CSXs new intermodal facility in Winter Haven.
The City of Ocala (and others) complained that the increased rail traffic through their areas would create horrific road traffic problems.
Guess what happened?
The intermodal facility got built.
SunRail is up and running.
And road traffic is just as good/bad as it ever was.

this should be interesting to see how this shakes out. Maritime law is one of the oldest on the books and usually takes precedent over land law.

if the comments about tide on the river are true, then there will be greater risk to boaters, particularly sailors, handling the current in a small anchorage whilst waiting for a bridge opening. I've done this dozens of times and in a crowded queue it gets quite dicey.
