Hello all,

After a 2 year hiatus, I've been wanting to get back to O scale.  However, this time I want to go with 2 rail-scale trains, possibly as far as Proto:48.  Don't get me wrong, I'm not a rivet counter, but I do find scale models exciting and fun.  I've seen a couple of 2 rail layouts, and I want to see how far someone can go with details, weathering, etc.. with O scale so I thought I'd try it myself.  I'm also planning to scratchbuild most of my own cars, so that leaves me with only a couple of questions:

1).  Where can I buy freight/passenger car trucks?  I'd prefer the most detailed (although smooth operation is more important)

2).  Where can I buy a 2 rail, scale, small steam locomotive? I realize that 2 rail isn't a huge market, so there isn't nearly as much available, but I would like to know who makes steam locomotives in 2 rail and/or Proto:48.  I'd prefer smaller steam locomotives such as 2-6-0's, 2-8-0's, 2-6-2's, etc...   I'm also fine with kits, so long as all the parts for the chassis, wheels, and gear system is there.

3).  Has anyone here converted their locomotive to RC battery power?

4).  Alternatively, I'm okay with converting a 3 rail locomotive to 2 rail (not proto:48)  provided it is a realistic model.  Any recommendations on what I could do?

Right now, locomotives are my biggest hang-up on this project since I can build or buy just about everything else with ease.

Thanks everyone!
