If you can find this book, 'Short Lines - A collection of Classic American Railroad Stories', by Johnson and Hazlitt, these taken from popular magazines from 1895 to 1930, curiously with a black and white sketch of an F3 on the cover, you will enjoy some great RR fiction from writers such as O. Henry, Rudyard Kipling, Jack London,Thomas Wolfe, Owen Wister, and A.W. Summerville. I found mine at an online bookseller we use 'ThiftBooks', and purchased it for only a couple dollars to fill out my order to get free shipping for orders over 10. From holding up a train, getting perishables over a mountain, to a world where the locos have spirituality and talk to each other in the round house, it is 14 short stories that are a good read.
