The response from everyone is great.  One thing I'd like to point out is that the calendar is the work of our member Phil G.  Phil thought of the idea, worked on getting it put together, found a printer who donated most of his usual fee and worked tirelessly to sell them at our latest show.   And they'll also be available at our Christmas show on 12/21.

Come on down, see the layout, see Santa and save the $2 shipping!

Hi Ben,

That is a beautiful story indeed! What a terrific thing for Sy and the club to get involved with!

The icing on the cake is the birthday party. He must've been so happy. You guy's are a terrific group of people.

God Bless,

Mike R

Ps... Have a Great Christmas to you and all the members, and have a fun time at the Christmas Party tomorrow.

Don't forget to give Louise the hat pin box made out of 2000 match sticks from the Emperor of Japans house!

That is wonderful!

A lot of people have never heard of Shriners' Hospitals and have no idea how helpful they can be to a child who has burns or a movement disability. We have Shriners in the family, and it was a good thing because two of my cousins needed their facilities (Mike had spina bifida and Paul had a vicious form of meningitis when he was a baby; without the hospitals, neither would have lived more than a few hours.) If you know a kid who needs help, and you're unfortunate enough not to know a Shriner, grab your phone book or Google, find the nearest local facility and give them a call.

Heart Warming...Thanks for posting Ben!

I always feel good when I give to the Shriners, but, not as good as I felt when the Shriners (Erie Pa.unit) gave to me..   Back in the early 80’s I had just lost my U.S. Steel backed medical insurance, due to layoffs.
My oldest daughter needed some medical attention, and the Shriners fixed her up.
So if you think the Shriners are a Bunch of Clowns in funny little cars …you’re right!  And they put on pretty good circus, too!!

Don’t Buy a Calendar….But Two or Three!!

Thanks for Posting ,  and Happy Holiday.. NJ HiRailers.

There is an organization at Madison Square Garden called the "Garden of Dreams" . It is there to bring joy to ill and handicapped children by getting them involved in sports events. I only have a small 14' x 28' layout not the huge NHHR creation but I will contact them and try to be a participant. Seeing sick children may bring some sadness my way but hopefully this will be overcome if we can be rewarded with some smiles. The model railroad community is by and large a fortunate one and many of us have the resources to do something  good for the community
