Foreign power isn't uncommon in Pennsylvania's coal country; Norfolk Southern and CSX run sand trains to the former Emerald Mine and to Fairmont, WV, often with run-through Union Pacific and Canadian Pacific power. Much rarer is seeing foreign power on a coal train, particularly leading, since many of the empties originate on CSX or NS, and NS's former PRR mainline requires cab signal-equipped leaders. Somehow, CSX E808 made it from Chicago to the yard at Newell with a KCSM Gray Ghost AC4400CW leading, and an uncommon BNSF SD70ACe trailing. I had been keeping track of the move through Facebook, but hadn't planned on going up to Pittsburgh from DC; however, my car's wheel bearing was not well-repaired, so I ended up returning to Pittsburgh to pick up the car the same weekend that 4523 led their train to the mine. Thanks to my friend Dale for the heads-up, and to Mason, Jon, Cooper, et. al, for letting me tail y'all!
